The energy system

The chakras.

Seven energy centres along the spine — each carrying its own emotional world, frequency, colour, and meaning. When they move freely, we feel like ourselves. When they don’t, we notice it before we can name it.

The seven chakras

Reiki works with the body’s energy centers, arranged along a single axis from the crown of the head to the base of the spine. Anahata — the heart chakra — is the one we are named for.

What the chakras are

In the yogic tradition, the body is more than the physical form — it is also an energetic system. The chakras are the seven main energy centres along that system, each governing different aspects of how we feel, think, relate, and live.

Root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, crown — each centre carries its own colour, element, emotional theme, and physical correspondence. When energy moves freely through all seven, the system feels in flow. When one (or more) becomes blocked, overactive, or depleted, we feel it — sometimes as emotional weight, sometimes as physical tension, sometimes as a quiet sense that something is out of alignment.

How chakra healing works

Chakra healing is an energy-based practice for sensing where the system is blocked and gently restoring flow. The work can be focused on one specific chakra at a time, or it can move through all seven in sequence over a longer arc.

The clearest way to understand the chakras is to feel them.
